Préventionniste santé et sécurité au travail

Under the supervision of the Head of Department, the preventionist acts as the promoter of the STS culture within the STL. It will have the mandate to develop a prevention program in the workplace, to see to its implementation and maintenance through the implementation of control measures. It enforces applicable laws and regulations and advises the organization on best practices in workplace health and safety.

Details of responsibilities:

1. Develops and implements an OHS prevention program in collaboration with the Workplace Health and Safety Advisor and the Disability Advisor, Health and Wellness;

2. Acts as a technical expert in OHS, advises the organization when new technologies arrive (eg electric vehicles) or during infrastructure projects that have an impact on working methods;

3. Supports the site supervisor and the building technicians during construction (eg expansion of the garage phase 4);

4. Develops and supports the implementation and application of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System, including identifying workplace hazards, proposing corrective and preventive management measures, and monitoring;

5. Establish a system of audits and inspections in compliance with health and safety policies;

6. Acts as a stakeholder in OHS joint committees and participates in the development and implementation of OHS action plans in collaboration with the OHS advisor;

7. Is responsible for updating the WHMIS program, optimizing it, and advising on the management of hazardous materials;

8. Participate in accident analysis and resulting recommendations for corrections;

9. Monitors lockout programs, confined spaces, work at height, machine safety etc., to ensure upgrades and supports management in enforcing and maintaining compliance;

10. Presents information, awareness or health and safety training activities as an expert;

11. Identifies the need for protective equipment and ensures the control of the wearing of PPE by workers;

12. Performs other related duties upon request of his immediate supervisor.

Requirements:

· DEC in Industrial Hygiene, Environment and Occupational Health and / or University Certificate in Health and Safety

· Six to ten years of experience in industry or transportation

· Experience in a unionized environment

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Client orientation, collaboration and group influence

· Quality of judgment, planning, accountability and rigor

· Knowledge of current OSH laws and regulations

· Knowledge of Word and Excel
