Logistec is looking for a Manager, Health and Safety, to join a dynamic team of professionals based out of Montreal, Quebec.

Reporting to the Director, Health, Safety, Environment, Quality and Continuous Improvement, based out of the USA, the individual will provide expertise to internal customers across Canada in ensuring compliance  with Health and Safety   (H&S) practices and procedures in all of Logistec’s Cargo Handling operations and helping to develop, grow and sustain a culture of Zero Injuries throughout the Cargo Handling network.

Logistec's HSE team ensures that adequate tools, programs and resources are in place to work proactively and effectively to prevent incidents and losses, while working in compliance with applicable regulations and standards.

Your new responsibilities:

Coordination of Programs and Procedures:

  • Coordinate with the HSE Director and Logistec Management to develop and implement a Health and Safety management plan for each of Logistec’s Canadian Cargo Handling facilities,
  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial and local Health and Safety laws, regulations and requirements,
  • Partner with Cargo Handling Operations Teams to help develop, grow and sustain a culture of Zero Injuries within each of the Canadian facilities,
  • Provide Health and Safety guidance, training, leadership and resources to all Canadian Cargo Handling facilities,
  • Conduct routine Health and Safety Inspections and Audits of Canadian Cargo Handling facilities, report findings, and coordinate the development and implementation of appropriate Corrective and Preventive Actions,
  • Initiate and lead various projects to improve Health and Safety performance,
  • Represent the organization with the appropriate authorities (Labour Canada, Transport Canada, CNESST, etc.)

You have the required qualifications:

  • Possess a minimum of 5 years of management experience in Health and Safety,
  • Experience in managing federal and provincial health and safety laws,
  • Experience in the management of worker's compensation,
  • Significant experience in risk analysis and incident management,
  • Knowledge of marine terminal environments is preferable,

Excellent communication and teamwork skills,

  • Excellent leadership and initiative,
  • Fluency in French and English, both oral and written,
  • Available to travel across Canada (50-75% of the time) to visit ports,
