Health and Safety Coordinator

The Health and Safety Coordinator coordinates the processes and activities of the Environmental, Health and Safety Programs to assist the Account Team in maintaining compliance. mitigation and management of environmental, health and safety risks, as well as related performance improvements


Program Coordination

  • Act as the first point of contact for environmental, health and safety requests and incidents.
  • Provide advice to members of the audit team on environmental, health and safety issues, and refer management to requests, if any.
  • Coordinate the implementation of environment, health and safety programs alongside processes, procedures and related resources.
  • Coordinate activities related to the environment, health and safety, including but not limited to health and safety committee meetings and activities, incident investigations and resolution, authorizations security, registration of devices and systems, contingency planning and business continuity planning, training, return to work, annual re-registration of the management system, compliance verification
  • Study environmental, health and safety issues and provide conclusions and recommendations
  • Assist in the creation of environmental, health and safety documentation including, but not limited to, plans, processes and procedures and maintain it
  • Create and maintain documentation including, but not limited to, instruction sheets, checklists, forms and training materials
  • Maintain Business Continuity and Emergency Management Plans and Procedures
  • Participate in field inspections, observations of employment; audits of health, safety and the environment and other types of reviews to monitor compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements and to identify risks.Present findings on risks and suggestions for improvement
  • Investigate incidents, their resolution and reduction
  • Participate in incident investigations and contribute to their resolution, including root cause analysis and provide probable causes of incidents and recommendations for resolution
  • Coordinate the implementation of corrective and preventive measures
  • Contribute to the identification and analysis of trends. Communicate observations and offer suggestions for incident mitigation measures
  • Audit Compliance, Data Maintenance and Reporting
  • Maintain all environmental, health and safety data, including but not limited to incident data, criminal record checks, compliance data in databases relevant data and all other types of information storage systems
  • Assist in the verification of compliance records and all other environmental, health and safety data
  • Prepare and distribute various environmental, health and safety reports, including, but not limited to, reportsd ‘incidents
  • Perform other assigned tasks.


MINIMUM SCHOOL: Secondary school diploma in addition to a technical training or specialized business

RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: More than one year and up to three years

Theoretical and practical knowledge

  • A certificate in one or more of the following fields: Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety, Certificate in Environmental Management of a Community College or University Degree in Occupational Health, Environmental Engineering, environmental sciences
  • A minimum of 1 to 3 years of work experience in environment, health and safety
  • Understanding of environmental, health and safety regulatory requirements
  • Understanding Emergency Management Requirements
  • Strong sense of organization and coordination, ability to coordinate multiple imperatives simultaneously (ie processes, activities, projects, emergency procedures, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills, as well as some ability to influence stakeholders
  • Strong administrative skills and ability to maintain and report accurate data
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems;
  • Ability to exercise good judgment;
  • Bilingualism.
  • Business license or approval

Demonstrating interest in obtaining one or more of the following titles would be an asset:


  • Canadian Certified Safety Professional, Canadian Council of Certified Safety Professionals
  • Health and Safety Consultant, Canadian Society of Occupational Health and Safety
  • Hardware Security Professional, from ASIS International
  • Certified Protection Professional, from ASIS International
