Visit our website Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) specialist reports directly to the Senior Manager, Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance and works closely with plant personnel, administrative staff, regulatory personnel, local fire departments, and different providers. This incumbent acts as an expert in his field and ensures people are working in a safe and healthy workplace and that the facility is in environmental compliance. The incumbent works with managers and supervisors to assist them with the implementation of environmental and safety policies and procedures. Key Result Areas include: Safety/Environment Process Development 45%; Regulatory Compliance/Reporting 35%; Workers Compensation 10%; Budget Cost Management 10%.

Key Responsibilities• Provide functional expertise, guidance and technical support for all EHS topics.• Support the development of annual and long term EHS goals and objectives and regularly track and report performance.• Develop initiatives/action plans and provide recommendations to senior management based on the EHS performance to facility targets and objectives and overall company EHS goals.• Liaise with internal and external organizations to promote EHS policies, programs and goals including regulatory agencies for Workers’ Compensation, Safety and Environmental regulatory requirements.• Develop and maintain site regulatory register and ensure implementation of operational controls.• Lead and facilitate EHS Committee meetings and projects.• Conduct regular risk assessments with action plans to mitigate identified risk.• Manage, track and publish facility sustainability initiatives with monthly data reporting and facilitation of sustainability improvement projects.• Develop and implement EHS audit and inspection programs to ensure overall compliance assurance with all regulatory and dormakaba segment EHS requirements.• Support implementation and communication of segment EHS systems, programs and standards. Develop new facility specific policies and procedures which align with the segment.• Develop, coordinate and conduct all EHS training for workforce including contractors.• Facilitate incident investigations through a team approach with root cause identification and appropriate and effective corrective actions. Prepare cases in the event of a labor dispute.• Provide medico-administrative follow-up of the file to the Quebec Commission for Standards, Equity, Health and Safety (CNESST).• Develop Management of Change program for evaluation of new processes, products and equipment including training for key personnel involved.• Initiate, develop and facilitate the implementation of ISO programs to include 14001, 45001 and 50001.

Required profile• Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental or technical related fields of study.• Between 7 to 10 years of experience in a manufacturing context and pertaining to Environmental, Health and Safety issues.• Knowledge of applicable EH&S Laws, Regulations, norms and standards (CSA, NFPA, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001).• Thorough knowledge of provincial and national EHS regulatory requirements.• Strong knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001; lead auditing accreditation would be beneficial.• Strong ability to handle multiple files at once and prioritize them.• Leadership, influence, autonomy and initiative.• Strong communication skills• Analytical and problem-solving skills. • Ability to establish interpersonal relationships at all levels.• Rigor and accountability.• Perfectly bilingual - oral and written.• Mastery of MS Office suite.
